Some of the sweetest moments at home are the simple ones, especially when a friend shows up with something homemade. Tonight, our friend Tommy treated us to his homemade strawberry shortcake, and it was every bit as good as it looked.

Soft golden cake, whipped cream, and strawberries piled on top made for the kind of dessert that deserves one of the pretty vintage plates from the cabinet. There is just something about serving homemade food on old china that makes an ordinary evening feel a little more special.

I love the little moments like this. Good food, friendship, and being at home together are the things I want to remember. We are so thankful to Tommy for thinking of us and sharing something he made himself. It was such a sweet treat, in every sense of the word.
