Built in 1915, our Mediterranean Revival / Italian Renaissance Eclectic style home has stood in Shreveport’s Historic South Highlands neighborhood for more than a century.
Since making this house our home, we have found ourselves wanting to know more about its history, the people who once lived within its walls, and the neighborhood that has surrounded it for generations.
The Historic Home Journal is where I will share what we discover along the way. This will include old photographs and records, architectural details, stories of former residents, vintage finds, neighborhood history, and updates from our ongoing research and historic recognition process.
There is still so much we do not know, and that is part of what makes this journey so interesting. Every photograph, document, name, and forgotten detail helps reveal another piece of the story of The House on Jefferson.
Our Story
On January 24, 2025, we purchased The House on Jefferson Pl. as our first home together.
From the very beginning, we knew there was something special about making a life together in a home that had already held more than a century of memories.
As we settled in, our curiosity about its past grew into a genuine love for learning about the people who lived here before us, the history of Historic South Highlands, and the architectural details that have made this house unique since 1915.
Exactly one year later, on January 24, 2026, this home became part of another very special chapter in our lives when we were married here.
Today, we are creating our own memories while also working to preserve and uncover the stories that came before us.
