If you know me at all, then you already know I cannot pass up a good estate sale, especially when it is at a historic home.

Oh, just a classical garden statue found at a historic home estate sale in Shreveport

Joey and I recently found this beautiful garden statue at an estate sale at Robinson Place, a lovely historic home over on the Fairfield Historic District side of town, just down the road from us here in Shreveport. The original owner of the home was a prominent dentist in the early 1900s, which made the whole find feel even more special.

The minute I saw her, I knew she was coming home with us.

At first I wondered if she might be Hercules’s wife, but from what I learned, she is more of a classical female garden figure, the kind of timeless beauty that feels perfectly at home among old porches, flowers, and historic houses.

Now let me tell you, she may look graceful and elegant, but this dear lady is heavy. Thankfully the estate sale was close to home, because it took three strong friends and a whole lot of kindness to help us get her moved, transported, and installed in our yard. We were so grateful for their help. She is also set with a 2-foot anchor at the base, so she is not going anywhere.

And honestly, thank goodness for that, because after all that effort, she has officially earned her spot.

I just love the way she looks out in the yard now. She adds that old-world, collected-over-time charm that I am always drawn to. A little graceful, a little grand, and just dramatic enough to make me smile every time I see her.

Some people come home from an estate sale with a lamp or a little side table.

We came home with a full garden lady.

And I would do it again.

Thanks for stopping by our little corner of the world. There is always something old, lovely, and just a little unexpected around here.
